When kids leave home and parents become empty nesters, it can be overwhelming. Watch this video with tips on how to deal with an empty nest from lifestyle expert, Stephanie Stephens.
Here are 4 steps to best manage the new chapter of your life:
1) Stay Connected. Make an effort to maintain regular contact with your kids when they’re away. Don’t smother them, but setting up some reoccurring times to chat will keep you engaged in their lives while allowing them to have their freedom.
2) Stay Positive. Think about all the extra time you have as empty nesters to pursue personal interests!
3) Ask for Support. It’s okay to ask for support if you’re having a hard time adjusting to the change. Lean on loved ones & close contacts.
4) Get Involved in Your Community. Now that you have more time, consider filling it with something purposeful. Do volunteer work and help those around you!
Use these simple tips to embrace the time you have as you navigate through this new stage of your life as parents!
